NEMC closes more than 80 bars to control noise: The National Conservation and Environmental Management Council (NEMC) has closed more than 80 open bars including Elements, Wavuvi Kempu, Boardroom, Kitaba Cheupe, Liquid, Warehouse and Soweto in Dar es Salaam as well as Chako ni Chako, Rainbow, Gentleman in Dodoma. and Kasiki of Mwanza after finding noise that is contrary to the environmental management law number 20 of 2004 and the regulation of noise and vibration control standards of 2015.
Speaking during the Meeting with Environmental Stakeholders in Dar es Salaam, Director General of NEMC, Dr. Samuel Gwamaka said that the law has said that the areas that surround people’s areas and there are businesses, the noise should be 60 DBA during the day and 40 at night and that it is not the first time to warn those who have been closed “We fined some but they continued to defy, we have closed 19 bars in Kindondoni, Ilala 25 , Kigamboni 22, Temeke 12, Baa 5, Mwanza 6”
“Some of the stubborn ones that we have dealt with since the beginning and until now continue to bother us, there is Boardroom of Kinondoni District, there is Wavuvi Camp, Warehouse, Kitamba Cheupe, Elements, Soweto, Liquid, in Dodoma there is Chako ni Chako, Rainbow, Gentleman, there Mwanza kuna Kasiki”
“We have taken the measures to close them because it is not the first time we have warned them many times but they did not listen, after closing them many have come to apologize and others have asked to be opened”
It should be noted that yesterday the National Conservation and Environmental Management Council (NEMC) closed the open bars of Rainbow and Chako ni Chako Pubs in Dodoma City after finding noise contrary to the environmental management law number 20 of 2004 and 2015 noise and vibration regulation.
