Target Balance Gift Cards: Target GiftCards are solely for use at Target stores and on Target.com. Target GiftCards cannot be used to purchase any prepaid or specialty gift cards.

How to Check the Balance on a Target Gift Card

Checking your balance by phone

You can call 1-800-544-2943 to check your Target GiftCard balance and hear your last five transactions.

Checking your balance online

If you don’t already have a Target account, you will need to create one to check the balance of your Target GiftCard.

Target Balance Gift Cards

If you have saved a Target GiftCard to your Target account follow these steps:

1. Access your Target account.
2. Navigate to your Account/Name.
3. Select Gift cards.
4. Review your gift cards.

If your Target GiftCard is not saved, then check the balance on your Target GiftCard here. Enter the 15-digit card number and the Access Number or PIN. These numbers can be found by gently removing the silver strip on the back of your physical Target GiftCard.

You card may also include an Event or Sequence Number. These numbers are not needed to check the balance on your card.

How To purchase a Target GiftCard?

Target GiftCards are available for purchase in store, on Target.com and at other various retailers, and are offered in the following denominations:

• Physical Target GiftCards purchased in store: Any amount between $5 – $500
• Target GiftCards purchased on Target.com or in the Target app (Physical Target GiftCards, Mobile Target GiftCards and Target eGiftCards): $10, $20, $25, $50, $75, $100 & $200, and the ability to add in a custom value amount between $5 – $500.

Purchase In Store

You can purchase physical Target GiftCards at any Target store during checkout.

Purchase via Target App

Physical Target GiftCards, Mobile Target GiftCards and Target eGiftCards can be purchased on the Target app by following these steps:

1. Select Shop by category, then select Gift Cards.
2. Select Target GiftCards.
3. Select your gift card design.
4. Choose options to select your gift card value amount.
5. Choose your delivery method:
   • Email: Target eGiftCard sent via email, usually within 4 hours or you can schedule delivery for up to three months in advance.
   • Mail: Physical Target GiftCard sent by mail, usually delivered within 7-10 days. Postal delays could affect the delivery timeframe.
   • Mobile: Mobile Target GiftCard sent via text message to data-enabled mobile device, usually within 4 hours or you can schedule delivery for up to three months in advance.
6. Select one of the following accordingly:
   • Send it: Select to send a gift card via email or mobile.
   • Mail it: Select to send a physical gift card.
7. Select Cart icon to proceed with checkout.
   • You can edit quantity in cart.
8. Select Check out.
   • Email Delivery: Select Add next to the Email recipient field to edit.
     • Review To field to include the recipient’s name and email address. Email address must be added twice for validation. 
     • Review From field to edit the purchaser’s name.
   • Mobile Delivery: Select Add next to the Mobile recipient field to edit.
     • Review To field to include the recipient’s name and mobile number. 
     • Review From field to edit the purchaser’s name.
9. Select Place my order.

Purchase at Target.com

Physical Target GiftCards, Mobile Target GiftCards and Target eGiftCards can be purchased on Target.com by following these steps:

1. Visit the Target GiftCards page.
2. Select Target GiftCards to find and select your gift card design.
3. Choose options to select your gift card value amount.
4. Choose your delivery method:
   • Email: Target eGiftCard sent via email, usually within 4 hours or you can schedule delivery for up to three months in advance.
   • Mail: Physical Target GiftCard sent by mail, usually delivered within 7-10 days. Postal delays could affect the delivery timeframe.

Other Retailers

• Target GiftCards are distributed at over 10,000 locations nationwide including Kroger® and Safeway™ grocery stores and CVS Pharmacy® and Rite Aid® pharmacies. Card assortment will vary by location and distribution partner, but may include $25, $50, $100, open denomination cards ($15–$500) or multipacks.

How To Find access number for my Target GiftCard

Access numbers are needed when using your Target GiftCard in a Target store. 

• To find the access number for your Target GiftCard, gently remove the silver strip on the back of your gift card to find the gift card number and access number.

1. Access your Target account on Target.com.
   • Note: Target GiftCard access numbers cannot currently be requested in the Target App. 
2. Go to Account/Name tab.
3. Select Gift cards.
4. Find the Target GiftCard you wish to use, and then select Get access number. 
5. The Target GiftCard access number will be emailed to the email tied to your Target.com account.

Restrictions & Use of Target Gift Card

1. Target gift cards are widely used in Target’s different stores and outlets located in the United States.
2. Target cards can not be used to purchase certain other special gift cards or prepaid card-like items.
3. Target gift cards can also not be used in any other store. This means that target GiftCards can only be used at Target and Target.com.

Target Gift Cards Exclusions

Target Gift Cards can be used for a whole lot of purchase, however their website indicates that they cannot be used for the following:

1. To make RedCard payments
2. To purchase third-party gift cards (Visa, Mastercard and American Express)
3. To purchase iTunes gift cards
4. To purchase speciality gift cards (restaurant, entertainment, food etc.)
5. To purchase Target GiftCards
6. At Minute Clinics within Target stores
7. Target Optical online
