  2. Enter your TSC Number, ID Number, and Mobile Number
  3. Check your email notification for a six-digit authorization code
  4. Tap on the Login button
  5. Input your authorization code

TEACHER REGISTRATION

In accordance with article 237 of the Constitution of Kenya, Section 23 of TEACHERS SERVICE COMMISSION ACT No. 20 of 2012, it is an offence for any person to engage in the teaching service unless such a person is registered as a teacher. This system provides a platform for online application and registration.

ENTRY/ EXIT RETURNS

These are returns filled and filed by the head teachers, administrators or authorized officers entrusted with the responsibility by the Commission for onward respective processing at the Head Office and proper communications on issues like interdiction, injunction, suspension etc undertaken. (Exit/ Entry Returns can only be accessed once Logged In by Head of Institution).

About TSC Online Registration Number and Certificate

The Teachers Service Commission Act 2012 Article 237, requires the commission to register all qualified teachers before they can teach in any public or private institution. A teacher who meets the requirements for registration will be issued with the certificate of Registration bearing a TSC number within 30 days. The names of all registered teachers will be published every year.

TSC Teachers Registration Requirements

Applicants are required to apply for registration online and the user guide is also available.

One should scan and upload the following documents:

  • Certified copies of academic and professional certificates
  • National Identity Card
  • Bank slip (If you’ve paid via the bank)
  • One passport-size photo
  • KCSE Certificate
  • KCPE Certificate
  • KRA PIN
  • GP69 form
  • Certificate of good conduct
  • Entry and work permits for non-Kenyans
  • Bank Slip
  • A screenshot of the MPESA transaction message (If you’ve paid via mpesa)

Only original documents should be scanned.

For registration, one is required to deposit Ksh 1,060 through Direct Banking or Simple Banking. (KSh 1,000 is a non-refundable registration fee and ksh 60 for Bank Commission Charge to the TSC).

For the application for a duplicate certificate, one is required to deposit KSh 2,060 (KSh 2,000 is a non-refundable application fee and ksh 60 for Bank Commission Charge to the TSC).

One can be denied registration if he/she:

  1. Lacks the relevant academic and professional qualifications
  2. Is not of good moral character been convicted of a sexual offense or an offense against a learner
  3. Has been convicted of a criminal offense which renders the person unfit to be a teacher
  4. Is engaged in activities that are prejudicial to the peace, good order, or good governance in Kenya
  5. Suffers from physical or mental infirmity which renders the person incapable of performing the duties of a teacher

A teacher can be deregistered if he/she:

  1. Dies
  2. Obtains registration fraudulently
  3. Has been convicted of a sexual offense or an offense against a learner
  4. Has been convicted of a criminal offense which renders the person unfit to be a teacher
  5. Is found unfit to teach following disciplinary proceedings
  6. Suffers from physical or mental illness or infirmity which renders the person incapable of performing the duties of a teacher.

Here’s a quick step to check your TSC registration status online.

  1. Check TSC Registration Status
  2. Enter your TSC Number/Passport Number
  3. Navigate to “Registration Status”
  4. Enter your Identity Card or Passport Number
  5. Press Go
  6. You will receive your TSC registration confirmation

TSC Registration Status and their Meaning

  • In Progress; means that the application has been received at the registry but hasn’t been handled yet.
  • Verified; the application has been checked and it has been confirmed that all the details are correct.
  • Registered; the applicant has been registered successfully. The TSC number is indicated here. A confirmation SMS bearing the TSC number is as well sent to the applicant.
  • Reset; there is an error that needs to be corrected. An SMS is sent to the applicant stating the specific error. After correcting it, the application goes to the ‘in progress status.
  • Rejected; this is indicated if the applicant does not meet the minimum qualifications to be registered as a teacher.
  • Incomplete; means that some details haven’t been entered or the application has not been submitted.
